So you want to be a runner…
It’s Boston Marathon season and that means even those of us couch potatoes are looking on in awe, thinking about racing over to Marathon Sports for a fresh pair of sneakers to jump start a new cross-country hobby. We’re fortunate to have some avid runners on our team who gave us a few tips and tricks for hitting the path (or the trail!) in style:
A good anti-chafing balm!
An absolute NECESSITY (IYKYK). We love these two options from Hyland’s and Fur!
Hydrate with electrolytes!
If you’re sweating a lot on your long runs or strength training sessions, stay hydrated and replace essential minerals with an electrolyte mix like this one from True Grace, or extra strength pickle juice!
Snacks, snacks, snacks!
Stay fueled before, during and after your run with snacks like Goodie Krunch energy bites, ProBar BOLT bites, and Ellen’s favorite Kelp Krunch energy bar, the perfect salty-sweet combo!
Stretch, self-care, and strengthen!
Pre-run, work those muscles in need of strengthening to avoid soreness post-run. Tom recommends the Relaxus Exerfit Resistance Band set. Post-run, take care of yourself with The Healing Rose massage oil and Sunsoil recovery gummies. Zach says: “I found self-massage really helpful in preventing delayed soreness which helped me be ready for my next run sooner, and these delicious, organic, affordable Turmeric Gummies pack a whopping 500mg 10:1 Turmeric extract per gummy for healthy inflammation support and faster recovery.”
