Bubbly & Bright Summer Make-up!
by Allison, Green Beauty Enthusiast
Summer makeup can be a challenge! We want to feel fun and sunkissed, but it can be difficult to achieve that in the heat and humidity of New England. This tutorial will show you how to add pops of color (that won’t melt off) to your summer makeup looks.
Moisturize as normal. I love the Goat’s Milk Moisturizer from Little Seed Farm and the Task Force Nine Facial Cream by The Organic Skin Co.
If your skin is more on the oily side, the Carina Organics Daily Face Moisturizer is a great option for summer.
Let moisturizer absorb for about 5 minutes before applying sunscreen.
Apply 2 finger lengths of Evanhealy's Sheer Mineral Sunscreen to the face and 1 finger length to the neck. Allow another 5 minutes for absorption before moving to step 3.
Apply a small drop of Dr. Hauschka's Translucent Bronzing Tint to the top of your forehead, temples, and upper cheeks. Blend out with a brush or your fingers.
I like to put a tiny pump of the bronzing tint on the back of my hand and work it into the brush on my hand, before applying it to my face.
You can also mix it directly into your spf for an all-over glowy look or to counteract the whitecast in your spf.
Prime your eyelids with concealer or eyeshadow primer.
For extra staying power, set your primer with powder before applying any color to your eyelids.
Fill in sparse areas of your eyebrows with the Jane Iredale PureBrow Precision Pencil.
In my experience, if you have no eyebrows, the PureBrow Shaping Pencil makes a more natural-looking brow.
Comb Jane Iredale PureLash Conditioner through your brows to set them in place.
Jane Iredale makes a clear brow gel, but I like the PureLash because the hold is very long-lasting.
Apply the Axiology Multi-use Balmie in Sorbet to the inner half of your eyelid and the Axiology Multi-use Balmie in Raspberry to the outer portion of your eyelid.
Blend colors in the center of your lid and buff out edges using a fluffy eyeshadow brush or a clean finger.
For more definition between the colors, do not blend as much in the center of your lid.
Line your lips with Dr. Hauschka's lip liner in Camaru.
Apply the Axiology Balmie in Raspberry to your lips. Blot lips gently with a tissue for a more muted effect.
You can apply multiple layers for a bolder look.
Set the center of your face and under your eyes with the Jane Iredale PurePressed Powder Foundation.
If you are concerned about the appearance of your under eyes, you can use a concealer like the Jane Iredale Skintuition or Enlighten Plus. Depending on your skintone, a pink- or orange-leaning concealer will help brighten up under your eyes. Apply concealer before setting your under eyes with powder.
Mist your face with a setting spray, like Jane Iredale’s Balance Hydration Spray.
The Jane Iredale powder foundation is a mineral based foundation, so misting your face activates the minerals and all
I like to press the foundation into my skin using a damp beauty sponge after I mist my face.
Evanhealy, Dr. Hauschka, and Axiology are all on sale until 7/28. Ask a staff member in store if you need help choosing your perfect product or shade!
